MAKING ROOM FOR REQUIREMENTS
Custom owner standards? New sustainability requirements? No problem. Applied Building Information LLC (ABI) is here to help. We see it quite often where a project will have one or more types of requirements that need to be incorporated into the job. Typically this means that specific language or materials need to be used in the construction specifications.
We work on a on a wide range of requirement sets. Here are some examples:
- ownersCAN Embodied Carbon Action Plan by Building Transparency
- Living Building Challenge
- Seattle’s Living Building Pilot program
- LEED V4, LEED V4 Healthcare, LEED 2009
- Embodied carbon reduction goals
- Seattle 2030 District
- Salmon-Safe
- Mass timber structural systems
- Washington Sustainable Schools Protocol (WSSP)
- California Green Building Standards (CALGreen)
- U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
- Owner Division 1, design standards, masters, and other requirements
- Healthcare institution material requirements
PROJECT EXAMPLES
We’ve built a large portfolio of project experience across several market sectors including commercial, education, healthcare, interiors, mixed-use, multi-family, and public/civic. While this list is extensive, it’s not comprehensive. Our clients are pretty creative and we’re always taking on new types of projects.
Our Approach
First, we take the time to understand the requirements and where that material should go. That allows us to incorporate the correct products and materials into the construction specifications.
Along the way, we work closely with our clients to make sure we have products that comply with their goals. We also provide reporting so that it’s easier for subject-matter experts to find the content they need to review.
Rather than throw all of the specs at everyone, we’re able to provide a filtered view. For each specific requirement, you’ll be able to see only the relevant text that is impacted by that requirement – across all of the specifications.
